Legal documentation / browser storage
Cookie Policy
Current inventory of cookies and browser storage used by the site, including language, theme, banner acknowledgement, admin session and analytics bypass.
matt88.it uses limited first-party storage for technical functions. The analytics system processes request data on the server and does not install analytics cookies or browser identifiers.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies and localStorage can preserve information in the browser. Consent depends on purpose, not only on the technical mechanism.
Current inventory
The active first-party storage mechanisms are listed below.
- matt88_locale
- Technical language cookie; 12 months; SameSite=Lax. The manual choice overrides the language suggested from the IP country.
- matt88:color-scheme
- localStorage theme preference; light or dark.
- matt88_legal_ack
- First-party technical cookie set to v2; records acknowledgement of the information banner for 12 months; SameSite=Lax.
- matt88:legal-ack
- localStorage value set to v2 and used as a fallback for information-banner acknowledgement.
- countBypass
- Optional Admin-set localStorage flag that suppresses analytics requests from this browser.
- matt88_admin_session
- Protected-area session cookie; HttpOnly; SameSite=Strict; maximum 8 hours.
The analytics system does not write visitor identifiers to the browser. Pseudonymous identifiers are generated only on the server from technical request data.
Automatic language selection
When the domain root is opened without a stored preference, requests from an IP address located in Italy are redirected to Italian and other known countries to English. Italian is the fallback when the country is unavailable.
A choice made with the IT/EN switcher is stored in the technical matt88_locale cookie and takes precedence on later visits.
Analytics without identifier storage in the terminal
Page loads send a first-party request to the server. The server uses the IP address, user agent, referrer and technical headers to aggregate traffic and probabilistically classify bots, people or unknown clients.
No analytics cookies, analytics localStorage, persistent fingerprints or cross-site tracking are used. Details and retention periods are described in the Privacy Policy.
Information banner and consent
On the first visit, a banner links to the Privacy, Cookie and Legal notices. The “I understand” button stores only the version of the notice already shown.
The banner neither requests nor records consent to advertising, profiling or non-essential terminal storage, which are not active.
Appropriate information and controls will be introduced before enabling advertising, persistent fingerprinting, analytics cookies that cannot be treated as technical, or third-party tracking.
Managing stored values
Visitors can change theme and language through site controls and remove cookies and localStorage through browser settings. Removing matt88_legal_ack and matt88:legal-ack makes the banner reappear on the next visit. countBypass is managed only from the protected Admin area.
